Texas History, Y'all!

Teaching 4th or 7th Grade Social Studies (Texas History) provides an opportunity to support students with the content and rigor needed when they take a Social Studies STAAR test for the first time in 8th grade. In this session, participants will explore the numerous overlaps in the 4th and 7th grade standards that focus on Texas and the greater historical significance as it relates to the 8th grade content. In addition, participants will engage in activities that incorporate critical thinking, collaboration, cross-curricular reading and writing, and FUN. Teachers will leave the session better prepared to teach Texas History and provide a strong scaffold to U.S. History. Cowboy hat and boots, optional!
