Medication Administration for Unlicensed Clinic Assistants

This class will teach unlicensed school personnel the basics for safe medication administration. According to the Texas Guide to Medication Administration in the School Setting and the Texas Education Code, Chapter 22, Section 22.052, permission to administer medication may be granted to employees of the school district, when authorized by superintendents, school principals, or health service coordinators. These employees do not need to be licensed health care professionals but are expected to be competent and only carry out tasks for which they are knowledgeable. Participants must be present for entirety of course. This course is directed for for unlicensed school personnel who will serve to support the public health workforce in school setting. School nurses are welcome to attend. No Nursing CEUs available.

Training is in alignment with COVID-19 Public Health Workforce Grant as it equips new and existing school personnel by providing information / training / and skills necessary to meet requirements and effectively and efficiently support school public health workforce.
