Counselor Support Workshop - Trauma-Informed Counseling and Care: Making Schools a Safe Space

Given the prevalence of trauma among children and adolescents, it behooves schools to become familiar with the different types of traumas as well as the immediate and long-term effects of traumatic experiences. Children and adolescents spend a large part of their time in school and the school functions as a microcosm of society. Managing trauma among children and adolescents benefits the individuals and may benefit the school and their surrounding environments.

Objectives: In this workshop, the learners will:

· Learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Study

· Learn how to recognize different types of traumas

· Learn about the guiding principles of trauma-informed care.

Counselors, Counseling Directors, Department Heads, Facilitators, Financial Aid Officers, Special Ed. Department Heads, Diagnosticians. School Based Mental Health Professionals
