How Scaffolding Works Tutor Training (Region One ESC Tutors ONLY)

This course will provide tutors with the necessary methods to structure scaffolding in new ways. Dr. Nancy Frey will demonstrate how scaffolding can be utilized in reading intervention and across various content areas. The training will offer tutors the importance of gradual release of responsibility to students through intentional and purposeful scaffolding and promote independence with front-end scaffolds, distributed scaffolds, back-end scaffolds, peer scaffolds, and fading scaffolds. Dr. Nancy Frey will use a blend of demonstration, modeling, and coaching to promote scaffolding practice.
