Healing through Play Therapy and Expressive Arts

In this training participants will gain an understanding of how healing can be fostered using play therapy and expressive arts. Participants will explore key differences between bereaved youth at different developmental stages. Moreover, participants will be able to define what is play therapy and expressive arts, while gaining knowledge on principles of play therapy and expressive arts. Participants will learn techniques on how to integrate creative modalities to support children in expressing their inner world. Participants will also learn how play therapy can be utilized to help children express themselves both, verbally and nonverbally, and communicate their thoughts and feelings. Expressive arts and play therapy can be used to help children express their concerns, fears, and desires as well as to communicate with their environment. Participants will have hands on opportunities to practice these techniques.
