Unlocking Learning Potential: Effective Strategies for Students with Disabilities-8TH GRADE STUDENT CAMPS-ACTIVITY 2 (BROWNSVILLE ISD-INVITED CAMPUSES

NOTE: ATTENDANCE FOR STUDENTS CAMPS IS BASED ON GRADE LEVELS.

This academy is an ESC Special Education pilot project in partnership with the Instructional Technology and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment departments with select schools. It is designed to provide educators with a comprehensive understanding of how to support students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms.
Over the course of the academy, campus teams will work with ESC consultants to understand different disabilities and their impact on learning, explore a range of topics including the importance of accommodations and modifications, lesson design strategies, and effective teaching and learning strategies to improve the quality of ELAR instruction for all students, in particular students with disabilities in the general education classroom.
This project utilizes a combination of direct training at Region One ESC and on-site lesson demonstrations (at select campuses only) and instructional coaching (select teachers from select schools). By the end of the academy, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to create inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of students and be equipped with practical tools and strategies for supporting students with specific learning disabilities in reading in their classrooms.
