Psychological First Aid for Schools

Participants will be trained in Psychological First Aid for Schools. (PFA-S) is an evidence informed approach to help children, adolescents, adults, and families in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic incident. PFA-S is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short and long-term adaptive functioning and coping. PFA-S was developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the National Center for PTSD, with contributions from individuals involved in disaster research and response.

All school staff members regardless of whether he/she has had mental health training, first responders, mental health professionals, religious professionals, disaster volunteers, health and public health officials.
