Literacy in a History Classroom (HS 9-11)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This training will provide social studies educators with both a conceptual foundation and research-based strategies that will engage their students in developing their literacy skills through the integration of social studies content. Participants will engage in strategies for Social Studies primary and secondary sources. Additionally, in this session, educators will learn how to positively impact instruction and student learning by embedding reading and writing into daily instructional routines. Incorporating literacy into Social Studies classrooms not only provides students with the opportunity to grow their academic vocabulary and build background knowledge but also provides students with the tools they need to be good citizens in the future.
