Building Critical Thinking Skills in Economics (Grade 12)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

In this professional development session, 12th-grade Economics teachers will focus on building students' critical thinking skills through the development of activities and assessments aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The workshop will emphasize how to frame key economic concepts—such as supply and demand, market structures, and government intervention—in ways that challenge students to analyze real-world economic issues, evaluate multiple perspectives, and make informed decisions.

Participants will practice creating engaging lessons and assessments that encourage students to think critically about economic systems and policies. By the end of the session, teachers will have a toolkit of strategies for enhancing classroom discussions, promoting economic literacy, and improving student outcomes on assessments. This workshop provides practical, TEKS-based methods for preparing students to navigate and understand the economic forces that shape their world.
