Project LEER Presents: Literacy Interventions for Emergent Bilinguals with Disabilities in the K-12 Classroom (virtual)

This virtual workshop will present a series of literacy interventions for Emergent Bilinguals (EBs) with disabilities in the elementary through secondary grade levels. The presenters will identify a number of target literacy interventions (e.g., peer-tutoring, collaborative strategic reading, mnemonics, self-regulated strategy development, etc.), highlight how to modify/adapt instructional materials, discuss implementation procedures, considerations for general, special, and bilingual/English as a second language educators for classroom practice, and overall effectiveness of the interventions. Upon completion of the workshop, the participants will:
• Identify and describe the different types of literacy interventions (e.g., graphic organizer)
• Learn how to integrate literacy interventions in a self-contained or inclusive K-12 classroom
• Gain an understanding of the efficacy of literacy interventions for EBs with disabilities
