Leveraging the Science of Reading for Effective Phonological and Phonics Instruction: A Make-and-Take Workshop (*Weslaco ISD- Silva Elementary Only*)

This professional development session focuses on equipping teachers with the knowledge and tools
to apply the science of teaching reading in their classrooms. Participants will explore evidence-based
strategies to develop and implement activities that strengthen phonological awareness, phonemic
awareness, and phonics skills. During this session, teachers will create engaging, systematic, and
differentiated literacy activities that foster student growth and confidence in foundational reading
skills.
