AM Session: Laying the Groundwork: Developing Phonological Skills for Literacy Success
Phonological awareness equips students with essential foundational skills for successful literacy development. In this session, participants will explore how these skills evolve over time and gain practical experience through engaging phonological awareness activities designed to support young learners in building early literacy competencies.
PM Session: Building Blocks of Literacy: Developing Alphabet Knowledge
Alphabet knowledge is a critical early literacy skill that lays the foundation for reading and writing success. This training session will guide educators in understanding the components of alphabet knowledge—including letter recognition, letter naming, and letter-sound correspondence. Participants will explore developmentally appropriate strategies and engaging activities that support young learners in mastering these essential skills. Through hands-on practice and practical planning, teachers will leave equipped to make alphabet learning meaningful, effective, and fun.
