ACCESS TO ACADEMICS: Once Upon a Timeline - Activities for Social Studies in Special Education

This hands-on workshop is designed to help special education teachers adapt Social Studies content into meaningful, accessible, and interactive lessons for students with complex access needs.
Participants will:
- Learn to simplify and adapt Social Studies texts and concepts using visuals, simplified language, and storytelling techniques.
- Develop vocabulary-building strategies using picture supports, core words, and communication boards.
- Create multisensory activities and interactive materials that reinforce key Social Studies themes while supporting functional and academic skills.
- Receive ready-to-use templates and collaborate on adapting lessons for varying ability levels.
