Accessing the "STAAR": Understanding and Implementing Designated Supports

This training provides an in-depth review of TEA’s state assessment accessibility policies, including Accessibility Features, Designated Supports, and supports requiring TEA approval. Participants will learn how accessibility resources help students access both learning and the STAAR assessment. The session will cover eligibility guidelines, explore examples for appropriateness, and consider recommendations based on TEA policy. In addition, participants will gain strategies for determining appropriate accommodations, ensuring their effective and routine classroom use, and documenting them to support student academic success.
