Understanding and Managing Secondhand Trauma (Weslaco ISD CCDC_Only)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This professional development session is designed to help educators recognize and manage the impact of secondhand trauma experienced through both personal life challenges and exposure to students’ emotional needs. Participants will engage in reflective activities, including a hands-on demonstration illustrating how unaddressed emotions can affect personal and professional interactions.

The session will also provide practical strategies for maintaining emotional balance, including guided breathing exercises and evidence-based de-escalation techniques that promote calm, supportive responses in challenging moments. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have developed a deeper awareness of how to protect their own well-being while fostering a positive and emotionally safe learning environment for students.
