Youth Mental Health First Aid - Primeros Auxilios en Salud Mental para Jóvenes

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an evidence-based training program designed to teach adults who regularly interact with young people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance use issues in adolescents (typically ages 12-18). The course introduces common mental health challenges, reviews typical adolescent development, and provides a five-step Action Plan (ALGEE) to help youth both in crisis and in non-crisis situations. Participants learn to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use concerns, interact supportively with young people, reduce stigma, encourage self-care, and connect youth with appropriate professional help and resources. Topics often include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, substance use, trauma, bullying, and the impact of social media.
