From Code to Campus: Legal Guardrails for Teacher Appraisals and Implications on TIA District Systems of Record

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This session is designed for Texas campus principals and administrators who conduct teacher appraisals within a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) district. Delivered by experienced education attorneys, the training bridges the gap between the Texas Administrative Code and day-to-day campus appraisal practices, emphasizing how legal compliance directly impacts teacher appraisal outcomes, grievance risk, and district TIA systems of record.

Participants will examine the legal guardrails governing teacher evaluations, including timelines, documentation, calibration, and appraisal procedures, and explore how deviations, intentional or unintentional, can compromise appraisal validity, trigger grievances, or jeopardize TIA designation and data integrity. Through real-world examples and legal perspectives, administrators will gain clarity on their responsibilities and the importance of fidelity, consistency, and defensible documentation in high-stakes appraisal systems.
