Texas Principal Evaluation & Support System (T-PESS Refresher; 1-Day)

In alignment with the Texas Administrative Code and Texas Education Code §21.354, principal appraisers must be appropriately trained prior to conducting evaluations using the Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS). This T-PESS Refresher and T-PESS Applied Practice Lab provide a full-day professional learning experience designed for appraisers who have previously completed the required T-PESS Appraiser Training and are seeking both annual rubric updates and deeper implementation practice.
The morning session fulfills annual refresher expectations through review of current rubric language, scoring criteria, performance level descriptors, and calibration guidance aligned to the Texas Principal Standards and the Effective Schools Framework. The afternoon Applied Practice Lab moves beyond review into structured, scenario-based learning where participants engage in collaborative scoring, case study analysis, role-play simulations, and feedback conversation practice. Appraisers will strengthen evidence collection skills, refine distinctions across performance levels, and rehearse high-quality goal-setting and end-of-year conference conversations.
