LAREDO AREA - Updates on the New WJ V with Dr. Schultz - Woodcock-Johnson V: Strategic Testing, Defensible Outcomes

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

The Woodcock-Johnson Five (WJ V) represents a significant advancement over previous editions, offering improved alignment with contemporary theory, updated norms, enhanced digital administration options, and expanded interpretive possibilities. While the publisher-provided training establishes a solid foundation for administration, many practitioners need deeper guidance to fully understand the assessment’s capabilities for evaluation and decision-making.

This session extends beyond basic training to focus on advanced administration, purposeful test selection, and defensible interpretation of WJ V results. Participants will explore how to select tests strategically based on referral questions. We will also align this training with current Texas guidance on the appropriate use of norm-referenced tests.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Apply advanced WJ V administration procedures to ensure technically sound, efficient, and purpose-driven assessment practices beyond standard publisher training.
2. Select WJ V tests strategically based on referral questions, suspected areas of need, and evaluation purpose rather than relying on fixed batteries or default clusters.
3. Interpret WJ V results using confidence intervals, score patterns, and functional implications to support defensible evaluation conclusions and instructional decision-making.
4. Explain how WJ IV achievement and cognitive data align with current Texas Education Agency guidance for identifying specific learning disabilities and dyslexia, including the appropriate role and limitations of norm-referenced assessments.
