AT in Action: Solving Real Classroom Challenges (5-Part VIRTUAL Series) Cohort 1

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This professional learning session supports district teams in building a consistent and effective process for Assistive Technology (AT) decision-making. Using the WATI and SETT frameworks, participants will learn how to identify student needs, match appropriate supports, and design structured AT trials with clear data and follow-through. Through case-based activities and guided practice, participants will develop practical tools and shared protocols to strengthen ARD/IEP decisions, improve implementation, and ensure students have meaningful access to the general curriculum.

Participants will leave with ready-to-use templates, a clearer understanding of AT processes under IDEA and TEA, and a structured approach they can immediately apply across campuses and build systems that improve access and support IEP implementation.

The 5-part, 1.5 hr VIRTUAL series will consist of the following topics:
1. Understand AT + Mindset
2. Identify student barriers
3. Match tools intentionally
4. Plan and run trials
5. Implement with fidelity & Measure Impact and Sustainability

AT implementation is most successful when multiple team members share the process. While individual participants are welcome, districts are strongly encouraged to send 2–3 team members to support implementation. Team participants will receive additional resources and will be eligible for assistive technology toolkits upon completion.

Ideal Team Composition:
Special education lead / coordinator
SLP or related service provider
Instructional specialist / teacher

Attendance: We understand the demands on school teams. While consistent attendance is encouraged, teams may rotate members as needed. A primary contact should be identified to maintain continuity. To receive full cohort benefits, teams must:
1. Attend at least 5 out of 6 sessions
2. Have at least one team member present at each session
3. Submit required implementation activities
