EmpowerHER Program - Where Girls Write Their Own Story

The EmpowerHER Program is a girls’ empowerment and literacy initiative designed to build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and support goal-setting through storytelling. The program is built on the belief that when girls are given the tools to express themselves, reflect on their experiences, and plan for their future, they become more confident, capable, and motivated learners.

Participants engage in guided activities that allow them to write their own stories while exploring their strengths, college and career interests, and future aspirations. Through structured writing, reflection, and discussion, girls develop both personally and academically.

Literacy development is a core component of the program, with an intentional focus on reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary development, and self-expression.

The EmpowerHER Program aims to:

Empower girls to become goal-oriented and focused

Strengthen literacy skills through reflective reading and writing activities

Teach goal-setting, planning, and progress-tracking skills

Build confidence, resilience, and motivation

Encourage self-expression, creativity, and voice

Girls will use the EmpowerHER Kit to write their personal story. This kit is designed not only as a one-time activity but also as an ongoing personal planning and reflection resource that students can use throughout the year.

The program is delivered through a series of interactive lessons and activities that combine:

Story writing and personal narrative development

Reading and literacy-based reflection prompts

Guided goal-setting and action planning

Group discussion and confidence-building exercises

Through these activities, girls actively create their own personal “story” while developing foundational literacy skills that support academic success.

By the end of the program, participants will:

Write a personal narrative that reflects their goals and aspirations. Demonstrate improvement in writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills. Understand how to set realistic goals and create actionable plans. Show increased confidence, self-awareness, and motivation.

Conclusion:
The EmpowerHER Program integrates empowerment, literacy development, and goal planning into one meaningful learning experience. By helping girls write their own story—both on the page and in their lives—the program supports academic growth, emotional development, and long-term success.
