The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Regional Security Operations Center (RSOC)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

A Regional Security Operations Center (RSOC) is a centralized cybersecurity hub dedicated to protecting organizations through continuous monitoring, threat detection, and rapid incident response. Acting as a frontline defense, the RSOC identifies, analyzes, and mitigates cyber threats in real time using advanced tools such as Network Detection and Response (Darktrace) and Endpoint Detection and Response (SentinelOne). It also leverages capabilities like external vulnerability scanning (ProjectDiscovery), web vulnerability assessments (DorkBot), and credential monitoring (CredMaster) to proactively identify and reduce risk across participating environments.
In addition to real-time operations, the RSOC delivers critical services that strengthen long-term security posture. These include incident response support—both remote and onsite—to quickly contain and remediate threats, as well as structured monitoring and alerting to detect suspicious activity before it escalates. The RSOC also provides policy and planning guidance, helping organizations develop cybersecurity strategies, implement incident response plans, and conduct tabletop exercises to ensure preparedness for evolving threats.
The RSOC further supports organizations through training and awareness initiatives, offering educational resources and hands-on experience to improve cybersecurity practices and workforce readiness. This includes mentoring students and professionals while helping organizations mature their security capabilities. Looking ahead, expanded services such as advanced email filtering, technical and non-technical staff training, and role-based training programs will continue to enhance the RSOC’s ability to deliver comprehensive, proactive cybersecurity support.
