2025-2026 School Behavioral Threat Assessment Training (SBTA TEAMS Only)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Grounded in research-based practices and aligned with Texas requirements, this training emphasizes a proactive, multidisciplinary approach focused on early identification, prevention, and student support. Participants learn to distinguish between transient and substantive threats, recognize warning signs along the pathway to targeted violence, and apply a structured decision-making process to guide appropriate interventions. Through scenario-based learning and discussion, attendees strengthen collaboration, improve documentation practices, and build confidence in contributing to their campus or district threat assessment team—ultimately supporting safer, more responsive school environments.

School Behavioral Threat Assessment (SBTA) provides a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying students who may pose a threat and provides interventions before a violent incident occurs. Texas Education Code 37.115 mandates Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to establish a threat assessment team to serve at each campus.

All SBTA team members must complete a one-day training offered by TxSSC-certified presenters at a regional Education Service Center or through the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC). If your campus or district needs to form an SBTA team or to train new staff members to join your district teams, please register for this training.  Completion of this training will meet the state requirements for threat assessment training.  To receive credit, you must be in attendance for the full day. This training is open to Region I School Systems, open-enrollment charter schools, law enforcement, and any state agency that serves on an identified Threat Assessment team. Because this training is mandated by law, all School Behavioral Threat Assessment team members must complete it either in person or virtually. Vendors and contractors are not permitted to register for this training.
