Explore the foundations of communication instruction for students with significant cognitive disabilities and complex access needs in this interactive, hands-on workshop. Participants will examine the connection between communication and behavior, investigate response modes and communication systems, and discover practical strategies to embed communication throughout daily instruction. Teachers will also explore how to create engaging communication stations and will leave with a themed box of materials to help replicate these activities in their own classrooms. #LIDESC1

PREREQUISITE: Participants must complete the 1-hour course Supporting Communication (https://spedsupport.tea.texas.gov/learning-library/rubric-effective-practices-students-significant-cognitive-disabilities/supporting) prior to attending this session. Registration status will change from Pending to Approved once the course certificate has been emailed to ztrevino@esc1.net.
