This two-day, in-person learning experience launches participants into the Texas Mathematics Academies by engaging them in Modules 1 and 2 through collaborative exploration, reflection, and application of research-based instructional practices. Participants will examine how high-quality mathematics instruction is grounded in evidence-based strategies that promote student understanding, engagement, and achievement.

Throughout the institute, participants will explore The Connected Story of Mathematics, developing a deeper understanding of how mathematical concepts build across grade levels and how coherent instruction supports student success. Learning experiences will focus on key instructional practices, including student engagement, teacher clarity, problem solving, structured sequencing, and the effective use of models, all within the context of High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).

Participants will engage in rich mathematical tasks, analyze instructional resources, and reflect on classroom practices that foster meaningful learning experiences for students. Additionally, participants will receive a preview of the TEA Learn platform and academy expectations, preparing them to successfully navigate the asynchronous learning components that follow.

This training is exclusively for District-approved participants of the Texas Mathematics Academies (Pilot Year) across all instructional pathways.
