Supporting Student Access on STAAR: Understanding Accommodations, Designated Supports, and Supplemental Aids

This session explores how accommodations and supplemental aids can support student access to STAAR assessments while aligning with TEA accessibility policies. Participants will review Accessibility Features, Designated Supports, supports requiring TEA approval, and Supplemental Aids, including eligibility considerations and classroom connections. Through guided discussions, attendees will learn how assessment supports relate to everyday instruction, how to determine whether supports are appropriate for individual students, and how to promote consistent use of supports that enhance student access and success.
