STAAR embedded supports are designed to reduce barriers and provide eligible students with equitable access to assessment content. However, many teachers are familiar with the support icons without fully understanding how the supports function or how they can be incorporated into daily instruction. This session explores the impact of common disabilities on learning and assessment, demonstrates how STAAR embedded supports work within the online testing platform, and helps teachers connect those supports to accessibility features already available on the devices and applications students use every day. Through simulations, hands-on exploration, and classroom application activities, participants will learn how to build student familiarity with supports before testing day and create more accessible learning environments that help students demonstrate what they know.
