Scaffolding for Independence: Supporting Without Rescuing

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

In this session, participants will explore how to provide meaningful support while developing independent learners. They will distinguish effective scaffolding from rescuing and examine front-end, distributed, back-end, and peer scaffolds. Participants will connect these strategies to clear learning goals, deliberate practice, and the gradual release of responsibility. Using an upcoming lesson from their own curriculum, they will identify indicators that students are ready for reduced support and develop a scaffold-and-fade plan for an upcoming coaching cycle that can be applied across curricula.

Please bring a charged laptop and an upcoming lesson to use during the workshop.

Teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators across all grade levels and content areas.
