This session explores how Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs—particularly safety, belonging, and motivation—can help mental health professionals better understand and support students. Participants will examine practical strategies for creating emotionally and physically safe environments, strengthening students’ sense of connection, and increasing engagement and motivation. This session is presented by Project ADVANCE!, an initiative of the Counseling and Mental Health Department at Region One ESC, for Mercedes ISD mental health staff.
