Creating a high-quality IEP for a student with significant cognitive disabilities goes beyond completing required sections, it means developing a meaningful, individualized plan that clearly connects the student’s present levels, needs, goals and progress monitoring.

In this interactive training, educators will explore the critical components of the IEP and learn how to use the Quality & Rigor Rubric as a practical tool for strengthening the development of Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), Goals and Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods.

Through guided practice, discussion, and application, participants will examine what quality and rigor look like for students with significant cognitive disabilities and apply the rubric to the IEP development process.

Educators will:
* Identify the critical components of strong, meaningful PLAAFP statements, goals/objectives, and progress monitoring methods.
* Apply the Quality & Rigor Rubric to evaluate and strengthen key sections of an IEP.
* Make meaningful connections between a student’s PLAAFP, identified needs, measurable goals/objectives, and methods for monitoring progress.
* Practice developing individualized PLAAFP statements and measurable goals/objectives that reflect appropriate expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
* Develop progress monitoring methods that provide meaningful data to guide instructional decisions and document student growth.
