GEAR UP Journey to College Teaching with Depth in the ELAR Classroom DAY 1

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Great literature opens the door to rich thinking, meaningful discussion, and authentic learning. In this two-day workshop, educators will explore how to move beyond surface-level novel studies by intentionally pairing novels with nonfiction texts, short stories, poetry, media, and other literary works to create deeper, more engaging learning experiences. Participants will learn how to design text sets that encourage students to analyze themes, compare perspectives, evaluate ideas across genres, and make meaningful connections to the world around them aligned to college readiness standards.

Participants will explore strategies for designing rigorous text sets that promote critical analysis of themes, synthesis of ideas across genres, evaluation of diverse perspectives, and authentic connections to real-world issues in alignment with college readiness standards.
