Teaching Reading and Writing to Students Who Are Deaf

***This is a 2 day Workshop. Participants need to attend both days***
Learning to read and write is a complex process that rests on the development of both language and code-related abilities. In this workshop, we will consider a model for developing reading and writing programs across the age and grade range, focusing on those aspects of literacy learning that have proven to be most problematic for students who are deaf. Examples from a wide range of students will be used as the basis for our discussion. Practical strategies, approaches, and resources for teaching reading and writing and planning programs will also be presented and described.
Dr. Connie Mayer and Dr. Beverly Trezek will be presenting.
