This session is for Mercedes ISD only. This session will focus on early literacy activities borrowed from the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR). This hands-on session will showcase 20 of the FCRR centers to support the following reading skills: phonological awareness, rhyme, syllables, and vocabulary. The majority of the training will focus on activities phonological awareness skills which have been shown to be strong predictors of later reading success. The teachers will work in PAIRS and make connections to the state standards and brainstorm ideas for adapting each literacy center for struggling or for advance readers.
