Serving Students with Deafblindness - Brownsville Site: BISD Special Services 2467 Price Road Brownsville 956-548-8400

Deafblindness is a combined loss of hearing and vision which affects an individual's ability to access and understand information that most of us take for granted. Because the degree of hearing and vision loss can vary greatly from one individual with deafblindness to another, it can be difficult for evaluators, teachers for vision and hearing, COMS, educators and early childhood specialists to determine eligibility for services, identify appropriate assessment, assign roles of team members and develop accessible educational programming for children who are deafblind. If you evaluate and/or serve children with hearing and/or vision loss, 0 to Birth and 3 to 21, join us as we look at the basics and best practices for serving children who meet the criteria for deafblindness and how collaboration among the different disciplines can provide a strong program for the child.

Teachers for Visually Impairments, Teachers for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Sped. Administrators, RSD Directors/Supervisors, COMS, Teachers and ECI specialists that work with children with deafblindness.
