Success at Work- Supporting Youth with Disabilities in Employment!

Presented by UNTWISE (University of North Texas Workplace Inclusion & Sustainable Employment)
The purpose of this training is to teach basic skills and techniques of job coaching for community employment of people with disabilities. The intended outcome is to help staff support people with disabilities to learn skills to retain job skills and employment in the community. Job coaching techniques can be used in many situations and the Job Coach is essential to job success.
Job Coaches utilize a wide variety of tools, such as task analysis and systematic instruction, applied individually for people they serve. The role of a Job Coach is to not only build skills; it is also to assist everyone in the workplace to achieve success.
A Job Coach must start with the belief that people with disabilities can find, get and keep a job in the community when provided services and/or supports matching their needs. This includes people with the most significant disabilities who can work in a typical job alongside their non-disabled co-workers, paid a commensurate wage and treated as a valuable asset.
