The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. The topics the presenter will cover include anxiety, depression, substance use, youth suicide, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADD/ADHD), and eating disorders. Participants will hear about school safety and security issues, factors affecting school safety and key components of school safety planning.
