Integrating Writing Practices in the Elementary Science Classroom

Science notebooking allows students to learn how to record, organize, communicate and formulate evidence-based conclusions in ways that are personally meaningful to them. It also allows the teachers opportunities to monitor progress and support literacy. This session will feature language acquisition, performance expectations, formative assessment strategies, graphics, charts and other metacognitive aids that can assess growth. Teachers will participate in Matter & Energy activities and learn how to incorporate notebooking on the first day of school. Materials included.
