Sheltered Instruction and a Dash of ELPS

Have you ever attended a workshop where you’re the EB learning a lesson in a language you don’t know?

Did you know sheltered instruction supports both cognitive learning and language development and are required by the state of Texas to provide equitable learning opportunities for emergent bilinguals?

Join this hands-on workshop and learn how to provide meaningful lessons through best practices such as the intentional use of visuals, Total Physical Response (TPR), gestures, modeling, and more!

Together we will explore actual lessons, activities, and student work as we discover how to craft objectives and lessons using backwards design for targeted and aligned instruction. We will also examine how linguistic accommodations are used to support development of the English language.

These practices are good for ALL students (necessary for EBs). Register today!
