Spend a day with us learning all about the Math RBIS! What are RBIS? A set of research-based practices that highlight common misconceptions in the field. Topics that require conceptual or philosophical changes in approach to instruction. A set of practices that are supported by research and should be present in classrooms, regardless of instructional materials. A set of practices that relate directly to the design of instructional materials AND/OR the approach required to implement them well. The essential best practices in mathematics instruction are content specific practices that are supported by research and should be present in classrooms regardless of instructional materials. In mathematics, there are four RBIS that have been identified. Research shows that these four strategies are effective for all learners. This is the foundation of strong instruction. Join us for this FREE workshop to learn more about these four RBIS!

The purpose of a food safety plan is to ensure the food served to children in the Child Nutrition Programs is safe. By controlling hazards that may occur or may be introduced into foods, school nutrition employees can safeguard food. An effective food safety program will help control food safety hazards that might occur during all points in foodservice ? receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, cooling, reheating, holding, packaging, transporting, and serving. A truly effective food safety plan needs to be developed for a specific school nutrition program (SNP). By developing a food safety plan for the specs of a school (equipment, staff, physical location, etc.), the number of hazards can be significantly reduced for that site. The goal of this 2.5-day workshop is for participants to take a detailed draft of a school-specific, HACCP-based food safety plan back to their SNPs. This instructor-led workshop incorporates individual work, group discussion, partner work, pre-made templates, and other resources.

For districts just getting started, the first step is to build general understanding of TIA and designate a TIA lead or leads. The TIA lead(s) drive the work of creating the local designation system and serve as a point of contact for TEA. TIA leads coordinate with district departments and key stakeholders to complete the System Application and oversee system implementation. During this session we will review the components to building a local designation system. It is important the TIA lead understands the policies, requirements, and processes of a successful local designation system.

Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) are one of four options to measure student growth for the system. (The other options include a value-added measure for teachers in tested subjects in grade 5 through End-of-Course exams (EOCs); portfolios; and district-level pre- and post- tests.) Districts can choose more than one of those measures, provided that there is consistency throughout the district for a particular grade and subject. What are SLOs? SLOs are ling-term goals for student learning crafted by teachers and administrators. Often in teams with peer, school and district support, teachers analyze data to determine student needs and devise instructional strategies to meet those needs and improve learning. The SLO process strives to bring together the varied pedagogical considerations a teacher juggles throughout the year - curriculum, instruction, assessment, adjustment, and evaluation. The SLO process encourages and prompts continual reflection and self-assessment so that teachers can focus on aligning curriculum, instruction, and student performance. TEA has developed a framework for SLO implementation, including recommended policies and procedures, and will engage participating districts

This four-hour workshop is designed for anyone that is involved in an educational setting from the Superintendent of a School District, Counselors, Athletic Trainers, Food Service Personnel, and Bus Drivers. The class is broken down into three separate sections. The first hour encompasses signs and symptoms of stress that anyone that is under a great deal of stress may be exhibiting. Participants usually come away from this hour with an awareness of the stress that they might be under. The second hour discusses how our region is not alone in the struggles within education. We can put some statistical information behind how our educators feel. Finally, the last part of the class will discuss Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). We introduce the concept of CISM to the participants and participate in a mock debriefing that is relatable to everyone in the room.

Student absenteeism has skyrocketed in many school districts, especially among underserved student populations. At the same time, academic achievement and other outcomes are below pre-pandemic levels.

Principles of Active Learning part 1 of 2 (A continuation of the Principles will be completed in session 2) This session focuses on the following three principles of Active Learning: Pathways to Learning, Dynamic Learning Circle, and supporting the social and emotional development of our students with the most significant disabilities. Active Learning is an instructional approach developed by Dr. Lilli Nielsen of Denmark. It is an instructional strategy for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, deaf/blind, developmentally functioning below 48 months old regardless of chronological age, and learners with significant physical, cognitive, and emotional delays. Individuals with multiple disabilities (including cerebral palsy, visual impairment, cognitive impairment, autism, hearing impairment, etc.) are at great risk from developing reliance on others to interact with the world around them. Active Learning recognizes that every child/adult with special needs is unique and emphasizes simple ways to change the environment so that a child becomes an active participant and an engaged learner.

Principles of Active Learning part 2 of 2 (A continuation of the Principles from session 1) This session focuses on the following principles of Active Learning: The Five Phases of Educational Treatment: Offering Imitation Interaction Sharing the Work Consequences Active Learning is an instructional approach developed by Dr.
