(PLEASE NOTE: This is a virtual session held via Zoom) Ensuring equitable identification of students experiencing homelessness is a cornerstone of the McKinney-Vento Act and a critical responsibility for every liaison. In this 3-hour interactive virtual session, participants will explore the systemic barriers that contribute to under-identification and examine how implicit bias, enrollment practices, and community outreach strategies impact equity.
Through data analysis, scenario-based discussions, and collaborative planning, liaisons will strengthen their ability to recognize indicators of homelessness, engage families with dignity and sensitivity, and implement identification practices that promote fairness across all student populations. Participants will leave with tools and actionable strategies to refine their current identification processes and ensure all eligible students are appropriately supported.
