Restorative Practices for Highly Mobile & At-Risk Students: Tier 1 Training for Campus Leaders & Administrators (IN PERSON)

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This Texas Education Agency-designed training is intended for campus leaders, administrators, and other educators who influence school culture, including counselors, social workers, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and staff supporting highly mobile and at-risk student populations. This includes students identified under McKinney-Vento (experiencing homelessness), Migrant Education Program (MEP), and foster care.

While restorative practices benefit all students, they are especially impactful for students experiencing high mobility, disrupted schooling, and instability in their living situations. These students often face challenges in building consistent relationships and maintaining a sense of belonging—making intentional, relationship-centered practices essential.

Through a focus on Community Building Circles, Respect Agreements, and I-Message techniques, this 6-hour session will provide clear guidance, real-life examples, and practical tools for implementation. Participants will leave equipped to create supportive, inclusive environments that help stabilize and engage students who need it most.

PRE-WORK WILL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE SESSION.

Training Objectives:
- Develop foundational skills to implement community-building circles that foster belonging and connection, especially for students experiencing mobility and instability
- Learn strategies to build strong, trusting relationships between students and educators, and among peers
- Strengthen capacity to support student self-regulation and voice through the use of Respect Agreements and I-Messages
- Apply restorative practices in ways that are responsive to the unique needs of McKinney-Vento, Migrant Education Program, and foster care students
