Building Resilience Through Guided Reading: Practical Tools for Highly Mobile Students

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This professional development session equips educators and counselors with practical, ready-to-use strategies to support elementary students experiencing high mobility and at-risk life circumstances, including homelessness, foster care, and migrant education.

Participants will explore trauma-informed approaches to small group instruction using structured, discussion-based reading lessons. Through the use of targeted book sets, educators will learn how to guide students in developing emotional awareness, decision-making, and relationship skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The session also integrates high-impact instructional strategies for language development, including explicit vocabulary instruction, structured student discourse, and multi-sensory learning techniques to support all learners, especially emergent bilingual students.

Each participant will leave with book sets and structured lesson materials ready to implement immediately in small group settings.
