RBIS Overview

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

The specialist will deliver the RLA Research-Based Instructional Strategies. The RBIS is a set of research-based practices that highlight common misconceptions in the field. Topics that require conceptual or philosophical changes in approach to instruction. A set of practices that are supported by research and should be present in classrooms, regardless of instructional materials. A set of practices that relate directly to the design of instructional materials AND/OR the approach required to implement them well. The essential best practices in reading/language arts (RLA) instruction are content-specific practices supported by research and should be present in classrooms regardless of instructional materials. In RLA, four RBIS have been identified: Foundational Skills, Coherence, Text-Based Responses, and Text Complexity. Research shows that these four strategies are effective for all learners. This is the foundation of strong instruction.
