Math RBIS Overview

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

The Math Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) are a set of evidence-based classroom practices that address common misconceptions and require a shift in how mathematics is taught. Regardless of the curriculum used, strong instruction requires balancing conceptual and procedural understanding to achieve true mathematical rigor, focusing on depth over coverage by spending time on the most critical grade-level topics, and ensuring coherence so concepts connect logically within and across grades. By anchoring these shifts in productive struggle, teachers provide students with regular opportunities to solve problems, discuss representations, and write to explain and revise their mathematical thinking.
