TOPS THRIVE Facilitator Training

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This training equips school staff to implement the Texas Opioid Prevention (TOPS) THRIVE curriculum for the 2026–2027 school year. The session focuses on trauma-informed practices, person-centered language, and strategies to support youth substance use prevention and overall well-being.
Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, TOPS is proud to launch THRIVE, an updated prevention framework designed to support the health, well-being, and success of secondary students. Aligned with TEKS, Tucker’s Law (HB 3908), and the National Health Education Standards, THRIVE reflects current best practices in school-based prevention through trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches.
THRIVE focuses on building the knowledge, skills, and protective factors that help young people navigate challenges, make healthy decisions, support one another, and connect with trusted adults and resources. By emphasizing resilience, school connectedness, healthy coping, and stigma reduction, the framework moves beyond traditional prevention models to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences for today’s students.
As part of the statewide TOPS initiative, THRIVE represents a modern, sustainable approach to substance use and opioid prevention that empowers students to thrive in school, at home, and in their communities.
Important Note:This training is designed specifically for individuals who are interested in implementing the TOPS THRIVE curriculum in the classroom. This is not a train-the-trainer session.
Audience: teachers, counselors, PE coaches, SHAC members, administration, prevention agencies.
