Calling all staff! This full-day workshop will feature international activist, speaker, author, and keynote speaker Roy Juarez, Jr., and how he overcame a life of uncertainty and homelessness. Focusing on how to engage, inspire, and help your highly mobile, unaccompanied, and McKinney-Vento-identified students, we will be offering multiple break-out sessions covering legalities, PEIMS, counselors, and community resources for these students. We will also cover McKinney-Vento updates, followed by an SSA meeting. This workshop is for staff from districts that are members of our TEHCY SSA or ARP II SSA ONLY.

However, the processes to obtain these documents are complex, and many youth and young adults experiencing homelessness enter adulthood without them. This presentation will cover the basics of how to obtain a birth certificate, social security card, Texas ID card, and driver's license, how education professionals can help youth and families access these documents and resources, as well as common barriers and tips to overcome them.
