STEAM and Weather: Deepening Student Engagement, Learning, and Thinking (1st - 5th grade)

Join Lucinda Presley, Founder and Executive Director of ICEE Success, to learn how to increase your students’ engagement, learning, and higher-level thinking skills by integrating Earth, physical, and life science, visual art, and ELA TEKS with the latest STEAM research. In this session, you will see how to use TEKS-based activities to help your students explore weather on Earth and Mars and then create their own weather station for Mars. You also will see how to scaffold these STEAM experiences from basic integration to deep problem-based learning. Based on national research of which NASA and national education institutions such as NSTA and NAEA have been involved.
