STEMulating Design Challenges in Science: Grades K-5

Our new workshop, STEMulating Design Challenges in Science, is a guide to implementing design challenges in the science classroom. Our ReUse Competition is just one example of an engaging design challenge. Within this scope, we will utilize the Engineering Design Process which fosters:
-?the opportunity to practice skills related to collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking;?
?-supports the development of time management, adaptability, and innovative thinking;?
-?connects to careers and real-world content applications;
-presents guidance on how to use an engineering notebook;?
-?and scaffolds this process using facilitation questions and sentence stems.
Design challenges are aligned to the TEKS and encourage students to think about real-world issues and how students would solve them using available tools and materials.
