Sharing the Screen: Using Digital Tools to Promoting Student Collaboration

This workshop will consider how technology can be used as a tool to promote speaking, listening, and authentic application of learning by encouraging students to work together both globally and in the same classroom.

We will take the lead from Dr. Monica Burns in her book “Tasks Before Apps: Designing Rigorous Learning in a Tech-Rich Environment” and examine three ways students can collaborate using technology. Examples of student tasks and suggested activities from various ages and grade levels will also be provided for each of the three types of collaboration.
