Author's Purpose & Craft

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Why do authors choose the words they use in their texts? How do authors convey the messages from within the printed text? What effect does this have on the reader? How does studying craft help a reader to determine purpose? According to the assessed curriculum documents, the Author's Purpose and Craft strand will comprise a large portion of the assessed TEKS, especially since they apply across genres. This session will examine the intentional acts of authors and how these acts are achieved in writing and how they affect the reader. This is more important than ever as we move toward all grades writing about reading.
